I. Identification:

Woody liana.

Flower:

Fruits:

Fruits are ferugineous-tomentose (the trichomes (hairs) gives them a red tone).

The folicles are dehiscent.

Leaves:

Compound leaves, aproximately 7-18 cm in lenght. Upper surface is dark green and under surface light green.

Each leaf has 7 leaflets each of which are aproximatley 3-6 cm in lenght.

Petiole is cilindrical.

Bark and wood:

The bark is grayish and smooth. The wood is cream colored.

International:

South Mexico to Colombia; Cuba (Croat 1978).

III. Natural history:

In Panama it flowers from July to September. The fruits mature at the beginig of the dry season (Croat 1978).

In the trails of Sector El Hacha, near Los Almendros station.
