In 1986, at the beginning of the Project to establish what is today the
Area de Conservación Guanacaste, we developed a national and international
campaign to obtain the economic resources necessary to implement a new model
of administration management of the wildland areas whose purpose it is to
guarantee the conservation of biodiversity to perpetuity by means of non
destructive uses on the part of society.
This strategy allowed us to obtain different donations (economic, in time,
ideas, thoughts, politcal support, etc) of particular people, scientists,
non governmental organizations, national and international institutions,
volunteers, etc.; who with their response allowed the development of the
administrative structure, the technical programs, and the geographical consolidation
of the Area.
Actually, the money for the operation of the ACG comes from the following sources:
