Biodevelopment is the culmination of a series of ACG initiatives and projects focused on demonstrating to local, national and international societies that biodiversity and ecosystems are an important productive sector of the goods and services economy when utilized in a non-damaging way, integrating protected areas into a society that values them and thus ensuring their conservation into perpetuity.
The integration of protected areas into society through the employment of local people, the promotion of bioliteracy in school children, training of research assistants and parataxonomists, use of local forest fire control brigades, development of marine bioawareness, implementation of forest restoration projects, promotion of ecological goods and services and technological applications are some examples of how ACG promotes biodevelopment. The ACG visualizes itself as a "conservation business" dedicated to using its programs and projects to promote a society that understands, appreciates and values protected areas and their conservation.
