Santa Rosa Sector in the Área de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG) is defined as Tropical Dry Forest, characterized by a long dry season (six to seven months), vegetation that loses its leaves in the dry season, and scarce water resources. Santa Rosa is a matrix of different stages of dry forest regeneration along with a series of patches of mature forest made up of pre-hispanic dry forest species which act as a seed bank for the natural regeneration of the forest. This sector is characterized as an important site symbolic to Costa Ricans.
